The RT profession takes a giant step!

Medavie Blue Cross announced today that patients diagnosed with asthma and/or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) will be linked to enhanced services and supports that allow them to seek advice and guidance from respiratory therapists (RRTs) to effectively manage their symptoms. To be eligible for the plan RTs must have a CRE/CAE designation and have CSRT professional liability insurance. The Medavie Blue Cross reimbursement program will be launched in early spring 2015. Patients who suffer from asthma and/or COPD will be able to self-refer to an RRT.

The CSRT is proud of this tremendous opportunity for the RT profession. The CSRT continues to advocate with other private insurance companies to offer the same benefit to their clients. Medavie Blue Cross has asked CSRT to play an important role in the registration of RRTs who provide services in Canadian communities – CSRT registered members, who have the CRE/CAE credential and CSRT professional liability insurance will be automatically registered as a provider for this reimbursement program.

To ensure you are registered and will have access to this reimbursement plan, please submit a confirmation of your CRE / CAE certification to the CSRT by email at: [email protected] or by fax at (613) 521-4314.
